This topic is alluring to many as well as being very informative. I have a multitude of ancient references picturing these nearly forgotten people. They come from all over the world and from many time frames; from ancient Egypt and ancient Greece up to medieval Europe and ancient China all hold records. From ancient hieroglyphs, mosaics, ancient tapestries and plasters to archaic text the sources are varied and all have given tell of their existence. As varied the sources so too are the statuses they held within our own society. (It is my belief that these people hold their own religion / beliefs). I hope you enjoy this section of my site many years have gone into this portion of my research as well.
Mary Magdalen taken up into the air, 1490-92, Unpainted wood, height: 187 cm, from the Altarpiece of the Magdalen, from Münnerstadt. Limewood (Bayerisches Nationalmuseum, Munich)
Mary is shown to be covered in hair or as in the text below somehow associated with these people. I am not a follower of a popular belief that this signifies unclean or sinful behavior.

`Eshaw - - "AYN, SHIN, WAW"; Pronounced "`Ee" (like "see") + "shaw" (like "saw" with additional stress).
This is an archaic word which literally means "hairy". It refers to one who has a hairy and dark body. This fact is illustrated in the following Biblical verse:
"The first came forth red, all his body like a hairy mantle; so they called his name Esau."
Due to Esau's dark and murky color, and the hair which enveloped his body, he was named "`Eshaw" meaning "covered with hair".
The corresponding word for this in Arabic is A`thaa with the trilateral root "AYN, THAA, YAA". This word, likewise, means covered with hair.
[Genesis 25:25, King James Bible And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his name Esau. ]
Genesis 27:11, And Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, Behold, Esau my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth man:
Esau. The word Esau has been generally considered to imply made, formed, or perfected; or perfect, robust, etc. But it appears to be a dialectical variation of the Arabic atha, to be covered with hair; whence athai, hairy, as no doubt the word Esau imports, in allusion to the circumstance of his being covered with red hair
Saint Onofrio/ Onuphrius
"Saint Onuphrius flourished in the fourth century, first in the cenobium near Hermopolis of Thebes in Egypt, and later as a solitary in the desert, where he was discovered by Saint Paphnutius. When Paphnutius first encountered him deep in the desert, he was affrighted at the Saint's appearance, seeing him covered with hair like a wild beast and naked except for a garment sewn of leaves covering his loins".

I am not sure if this is St Aegidius. This picture came to me with no credits or associated name. It is however a Hairy Saint.
King Nebuchadnezzar with soothsayer astrologers /magicians and Daniel ( interpreting the Kings dreams )"I, Nebuchadnezzar, was at rest in my house, and flourishing in my palace. I saw a dream which made me afraid, and the thoughts on my bed and the visions of my head troubled me. Therefore I issued a decree to bring in all the wise men of Babylon before me, that they might make known to me the interpretation of the dream. Then the magicians, the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers came in"
GILGAMESH, the Babylonian hero and subject of a great epic written in the third millennium B.C.E. The "wild man" Enkidu is an important character in the Epic of Gilgamesh. Enkidu came into life full-grown, hairy, and wild. He lived like an animal, eating grass and drinking with the beasts at water holes.
This leads into religious controversy and I do not want to get stuck here. If you would like to know more about this strange connection the Internet is full of this new age information
2 Kings 1:8 And they answered him, He was an hairy man, and girt with a girdle of leather about his loins. And he said, It is Elijah the Tishbite. "Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD" Malachi 4:5

As you can see this topic alone deserves an entire chapter to it's self but I must continue. I want to show just how diverse and globally spread these historic references are, so we shall move on to another well known subject Alexander the Great ( check back soon for more).
The Kolbrin Bible tell how the ape tribe Selok, ... perished by flames before the Valley of Lod, only one she-ape reaching the cave heights above and how heaven man was re-born of the she-ape in the cavern of woe. The Kolbrin Bible is the collection of documents (Bronze Book) that was hidden at the time of the burning of the Glastonbury Abbey in England by Edward the First in 1184 AD. It has been preserved by secretive groups for the last 850 years. Edward sought to destroy the Kolbrin believing it to be a heretical rival of the Holy Bible and a potential threat to his rightful claim as King of England. By Edward's time in history the 1,920 acres of Glastonbury had long been considered a sacred gift to the family of Jesus and often operated like a sovereign nation, not paying taxes to the crown and riddled with mystery and religious significance. The Kolbrin is a collection of ancient manuscripts said to have been salvaged from the Glastonbury Abbey arson in 1184. The Kolbrin is also said to have had a connection to Jesus, historically through his Great-Uncle, Joseph of Arimathea.
I can give no testimony as to the authenticity of this book but I do however find it to be very interesting
