This is an area I know very well. I spent my teenage years running these woods and would like to share some areas (I have) found to be active.
I will show falts , abandoned mines (gold) and more in the below maps. I will not give exact locations , no need. As you will see by viewing these maps anyone can explore to find areas of potential activity.
Most of these areas are rough and steep hiking so please , please use caution.
I do not list the number of sightings / encounters for each area, I just show the basic areas. Remember when you are in an area of interest and you can find no trials, a creek bed although slippery makes for semi easy access. The under brush can be thick and at times very hard to maneuver.
As far as this area and myself , I have only taken a gun with me (us) one time and it was the ONLY time I have ever had true aggression shown. ( see about me)
I have camped in these woods with my 8 month old son and stayed for a month. I have camped alone as a teenager many times. I have camped and ran these woods with family and friends and feel very safe in doing so. I do own a few knifes and if staying over night will make a spear or two , mostly just for fun. If you do happen to wonder into these woods I would say take music, a flute a digi or a drum.
Just my opinion based on my experience, if you have a better method by all means try it. Who knows?
If you go east out of granite falls heading out toward Monte Cristo ( Ghost town ) you will pass a area you don't want to miss. The Big four Ice Caves.
Many years ago I hiked around and on top of these caves ( not too smart!) but I think that may be forbidden these days.
red flag = ice caves
Keep going out past the Ice Caves and eventually you will come to one of my favorite areas, Monte Cristo ! This area is not open year around it gets too much snow. Know how to ski?
Monte Cristo is an old mining town and there are sight seeing trails for the public. There were the last time I went up there but it has been a few years , there is / was a small shabby
yet somehow quaint museum.I just like odd or unique things and find the history of this palce to be absolutely fascinating.
To better understand why these gold mines ( the area) are of such interest to me please read

I have more information and maps of this area that I am not ready to share just yet,but soon. I have recently shared some kept information with a friend / coresearcher , as they have shared with me. Together our information may shed a bit more light on this area.
I have been working on this and a few other areas here in Washington state for a number of years. I think the maps I have posted may assist in finding specific areas of activity.
Don't be in a hurry , once you find a spot make return visits each time staying a bit longer. In other words introduce yourself and I suggest to do it subtlety, politely and with music.
If they are in your area they WILL KNOW you are there , wait for them to come to you. Make a fire and roast some bratwurst or maybe even some appels with sprinklings of cinnamon and sugar. Yum! These aromas seem to be alluring and may also help to draw them in, plus they are just plain good to eat.
